Nate Smith joins Team Zero

Nate “The Natural” Smith, the world record holder in Slalom and current World Champion, has joined Team Zero. Team Zero is the team of pro skiers sponsored by Zero Off.

Growing up on a ski lake in Indiana, Smith has been on the water his entire life. “I don’t remember not being on the water,” he said. “It’s been part of my life forever.” He entered his first tournament at 8 years old and first entered the professional circuit at 19.

“I won second in the first pro event I ever entered,” he said. “I knew then that this is what I wanted to do.”

Smith is successful slalom skier and holds the World Slalom record (2 ½ buoys at 43 feet off); is current two-time World Champion (2013 & 2015); has been honored as USA Water Ski Male Athlete of the Year (2012 & 2013), 2013 IWWF Athlete of the Year, 2015 AWSA Slalom Skier of the Year; and earned eight slalom championships in 2015.

Zero Off, a brand of Enovation Controls, is the maker of the GPS speed control software that is the industry’s standard.

“We are excited to have Nate join our team,” said Jinger McPeak, Enovation Controls vice president, vehicle technologies. “He brings enthusiasm and energy to a great sport, and we look forward to seeing the great things he’ll do.”

Smith is eager to team up with the Zero Off team and learn how the technology works and offer input to keep advancing it forward.

“I’m very interested in how things work,” he said. “I want to see how I can help better the technology.”
